Solomon
P. Ortiz International Center offers free wireless Internet
High-speed wireless Internet access established to enhance
conference center amenities
The Port of Corpus Christi has established high-speed wireless
Internet access at the Solomon P. Ortiz International Center to
better serve patrons and enhance the popular conference center’s
amenities. The Ortiz Center is one of eleven conference centers
in Texas to receive the prestigious International Association
of Conference Centers (IACC) certification and one of three in
Texas to offer high-speed wireless Internet (www.iaccnorthamerica.org).
“This
service expands our amenities menu, allows us to offer state-of-the-art
technology to our clients and is sure to enhance the profile of
the Ortiz Center” said Michael DeGaish, Ortiz Center General
Manager.
High-speed
Internet access will be offered as a free service to clients of
the Ortiz Center and has been established in the east portion
of the facility to include the lobby
area and the Aransas, Kleberg, Nueces, Jim Wells and San Patricio
rooms which is the area certified by IACC.
The
Ortiz Center opened in the summer of 2000 and hosts approximately
700 events and 100,000 visitors annually and has become a popular
venue in town for a variety of events such as business meetings,
training sessions, fundraisers, banquets, wedding receptions,
luncheons, etc. In addition, the Port of Corpus Christi holds
its monthly commission meetings in the Nueces Room of the Ortiz
Center.
“With
the vast amount of events the Ortiz Center hosts annually, the
addition of high-speed wireless Internet is sure to be a welcomed
and an often-used amenity by our patrons,” said DeGaish.
