INLAND TRANSPORTATION

Rail
The Port of Corpus Christi receives service from 3 rail carriers: Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Texas Mexican Railway Company and Union Pacific Railroad. The Port's public docks are served by 26 miles of Port-owned rail lines operated by Corpus Christi Terminal Railroad. All 3 railroads have access to all docks.

Highway
Several key state and federal highways connect Corpus Christi to U.S. and Mexico markets. Interstate 37 and U.S. Highway 181 are located one mile from the Port of Corpus Christi, with direct access provided via wide, uncongested streets.

Gulf Intracoastal Waterway
The Gulf Intracoastal Waterway intersects the Corpus Christi Ship Channel and provides access to the U.S. inland waterway system. The operating draft of the Intracoastal Waterway is 12 feet.

Economic Impact Study
Martin Associates was hired in 2003 to conduct the local and regional economic impacts of the Port of Corpus Christi.

Foreign Trade Zone 122
The Port of Corpus Christi Foreign Trade Zone No. 122 was the first continental zone to have oil refinery subzones and is one of the largest zones in the United States today, encompassing approximately 24,019 acres.

Industrial Properties
Numerous industrial properties are available for development throughout the Corpus Christi Bay Area. There are deep water and large depth sites from 1 to over 1,000 acres available.
